Drive-by Shooting in Baton Rouge Leaves 1 Dead and 4 Injured in New Year Violence

BATON ROUGE, La. – The city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is starting the new year with a string of shootings, leaving one person dead and four others injured in three separate incidents. The shootings took place on January 1, 2024, with the most significant incident being a drive-by shooting that occurred near West Brookstown Dr. and Evangeline St. The shooters reportedly drove through multiple blocks and streets during the incident.

According to officials, three people were shot on Evangeline St., resulting in the death of a teenager and the injury of two others who were transported to a hospital. Another teenager was shot and injured a block away on Victory Dr., while an adult was also injured on Linden St. All three shooting scenes were within a mile’s distance of each other.

In total, five individuals were shot, with four of them being transported to a hospital in stable condition. Unfortunately, one person died as a result of the shootings. As of now, no further details about the incidents have been released, including the circumstances leading up to the drive-by shooting and whether any arrests have been made.
