WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. – A firefighter sustained injuries in an explosion while battling a fire in Antioch Township. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, prompting the Colfax-Greenwood Fire Department to assist the Northwest Wexford Emergency Authority with a structure fire on North 19 Road in Antioch Township.
The fire at a pole barn was already fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene. As they were setting up a defensive attack, a large explosion occurred, resulting in a call for a firefighter down. Extra resources were swiftly brought in to aid in the situation, and the injured firefighter was attended to by fellow colleagues until being transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
