Jailed: Man Brutally Attacks Partner in Cambridge Home Over Jealousy

Cambridge, England – A man has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for brutally attacking his partner, causing her to sustain swollen cheeks. The perpetrator, Dannie McGavigan, 43, assaulted his partner by repeatedly punching her in the face and dragging her through the house after she confronted him about messages from another woman in April.

Despite the victim’s daughter calling the police, McGavigan managed to flee the Cambridge address before officers arrived. However, he was later apprehended and pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm. He also faced charges for a separate incident of stalking and harassment in a different county.

During the sentencing at Huntingdon Law Courts on December 22, Detective Constable Callum Fullwood stated, “McGavigan is clearly a danger to others and I’m pleased he has been brought to justice for this cowardly and violent attack. I hope the conclusion of the court process will help bring the victim some closure.”
