Rape: Brooklyn Woman Assaulted by Home Intruders in Horrifying Attack

NEW YORK (AP) — A 49-year-old woman in Brooklyn was assaulted and raped in her home by two unidentified men over the weekend, according to police reports on Monday.

The incident occurred in Sunset Park around 6 p.m. on Saturday when the two men broke into the victim’s home. One of the men proceeded to rape the woman before they both fled the scene. As a result of the assault, the victim was taken to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

The New York Police Department released surveillance photos of the intruders, describing one as wearing a hoodie with light-colored pants, and the other with black pants, a white coat, and a wool hat. The suspects are both described as being in their 30s and standing between 5 feet 9 and 6 feet tall.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline. In addition, recent NYPD data shows a decrease in reported rapes in the city compared to the previous year, with a slight increase in reports for the most recent week.

Last year, there were 1,572 reported rapes by this time, as opposed to the 1,401 reported so far this year. The statistics also indicate a slight increase in rape reports from 23 to 25 in the same week of December compared to the previous year.
