Casey Anthony’s Parents Agree to Lie Detector Test on Daughter’s Tragic Death

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The parents of Casey Anthony, known as the “most hated mom in America,” have agreed to take a polygraph test in an effort to clear their name. A two-hour special titled “Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test” will delve into the 2008 death of their granddaughter, Caylee Anthony. This case made international headlines and led to a bitter family divide.

Airing on A&E and Lifetime, the special will explore the circumstances surrounding the death of 2-year-old Caylee, for which Casey Anthony was charged and later acquitted in 2011. The polygraph examination was administered by retired FBI Special Agent George Olivo, who conducted thousands of polygraphs in more than 20 years. He will not reveal the results of the test.

According to Olivo, the motive behind the Anthony parents coming forward for this polygraph test is genuine, despite critics speculating it might be a publicity stunt. The couple hopes to address lingering questions about George’s alleged involvement in Caylee’s death.

After Casey’s participation in a 2022 docuseries, “Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies,” she heavily accused her father of being somehow involved in Caylee’s death, but stopped short of alleging intentional murder.

The high-profile trial in 2011 was a media spectacle, resulting in Casey being found not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and aggravated child abuse, but convicted of lying to police.

The polygraph results are anticipated to address questions about whether George molested Casey and whether he was involved in Caylee’s death or the concealment of her body.

The goal of the test is to collect physiological data, and according to Olivo, a legitimate polygraph will have repetition in asking the same questions several times. The hope is that, regardless of the outcome, there will be a form of closure for this family.

“Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test” will air on Jan 4. at 9 p.m. on A&E.
