SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — The tragic shooting and death of 10-year-old Keith Frierson has left loved ones and the community devastated. Over the weekend, a young boy shot and killed Keith in Sacramento County, leading to an outpouring of grief and support from family, friends, and neighbors. The shooting took place on Greenholme Drive, prompting a vigil to honor Keith’s memory.
Keith’s mother, Brittani Frierson, recounted the heart-wrenching events of the day, describing how her son was enjoying a bike race with friends when he was fatally shot outside their apartment. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 10-year-old boy and his father, 53-year-old Arkete Davis, were arrested in connection to the tragic incident. According to investigators, the child obtained a gun from Davis’ vehicle and used it to fatally shoot Keith. Davis then allegedly attempted to dispose of the gun by throwing it into a nearby trashcan.
At the vigil, Keith’s loved ones spoke tenderly about his character, describing him as a loving, selfless, and kind child who had a passion for sports, particularly football. Family and friends expressed their devastation and anger, directing blame towards Davis for the tragic outcome that led to the loss of two young lives.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the firearm used in the shooting had been reported stolen in 2017, and Davis, a convicted felon, should not have been in possession of a firearm. The 10-year-old suspected shooter was charged with murder and taken into custody, while Davis faced multiple felony gun-related charges, child endangerment, and accessory after the fact. Davis remains in custody with bail set at $500,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Keith, a vibrant young boy who was taken too soon, and seeks justice for his tragic and senseless death. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to bring closure and accountability in this heartbreaking case.
