Unsolved Serious Crimes Series Shines Light on Devastating Incidents in Merseyside

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – The ECHO launched an unsolved serious crime series last year, aiming to re-examine some of the most devastating incidents in Merseyside. The bi-weekly series, released every other Thursday, delves into cold cases in hopes of bringing justice to the victims’ families by encouraging those with information to come forward.

The series began with the case of Colin Hughes, a beloved chef who was fatally stabbed outside his home in 2010. The ECHO spoke with his partner, Paula Greenwood, shedding light on the impact of the tragic event and the ongoing targeting of her home. The second installment of the series took a look at the brutal execution of Leroy Ottey, a family man, on his front doorstep in 2018.

In subsequent pieces, the ECHO revisited historic events that shook the city, including the unsolved murder of James Gibson, who was shot with a shotgun in 1988, and the tragic death of physics student Roland Carmagnole in 1987. As the series progresses, the ECHO aims to cover a range of unsolved crimes in Merseyside, with the goal of bringing long-awaited justice to the victims and their families.
