Indian-Origin Couple and Daughter Found Dead in Murder-Suicide in Massachusetts Mansion

DOVER, Massachusetts: Authorities have ruled the deaths of an Indian-origin couple and their daughter in a Massachusetts mansion as a murder-suicide. Rakesh Kamal, 57, Teena Kamal, 54, and their daughter Arianna Kamal, 18, were found dead in their USD 5 million mansion on December 28, 2023. The investigation revealed that Rakesh shot his wife and daughter before taking his own life.

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Teena and Arianna were both victims of homicide by gunshot, while Rakesh died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The firearm found with Rakesh was consistent with a .40 calibre Glock 22, although it wasn’t registered in his name and he wasn’t licensed to possess it.

Initial investigation suggested that the incident was a case of domestic violence with no indication of involvement from outside parties. The family’s sprawling mansion, estimated at USD 5.45 million, had gone into foreclosure a year ago and was sold for USD 3 million, prompting speculation about possible financial troubles.

Prior to their tragic deaths, the Kamals had experienced financial difficulties, including the dissolution of their education systems company, EduNova, in 2021. Teena, who was listed as the chief operating officer and an alum of Harvard University, filed for bankruptcy in 2022, listing between USD 1 million and USD 10 million in liabilities.

The tragic incident shocked the tight-knit community, where homicides are a rare occurrence. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities conducting full forensic and ballistics testing of the firearm to determine its origin and any potential leads in the case.

In summary, the deaths of the Kamal family have been officially deemed a murder-suicide, shedding light on the possible financial and personal challenges they faced leading up to the tragic event. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this devastating loss.
