DOVER, MASSACHUSETTS – Autopsy results have confirmed the deaths of a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter found in their Massachusetts mansion last week as a murder-suicide, according to medical authorities. The bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife, Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Ariana, were discovered in their 11-bedroom, 13-bathroom mansion, with a firearm found near Rakesh’s body. Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey has described the incident as a “domestic violence situation.”
The autopsy results, released by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, revealed that Teena and Arianna were victims of homicide by gunshot, while Rakesh died from a “gunshot wound consistent with being self-inflicted.” Although full forensic and ballistics testing of the gun has not been concluded, the firearm found near Rakesh is consistent with a .40 caliber Glock 22, which was not registered in his name. Massachusetts State Police have reached out to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for assistance in determining the origin of the firearm.
The grim discovery was made after a relative stopped by to check on the family members, having not heard from them in one or two days. The family members were the only occupants of the mansion, located in one of the state’s richest neighborhoods, described as a “nice neighborhood, a safe community” by the Norfolk DA. Although initial investigations point to domestic violence as the cause of the incident, there were no prior police reports or domestic incidents tied to the home.
Teena and Rakesh, who also went by Rick, ran a now-defunct education systems company called EduNova. Financial difficulties were experienced in recent years, with their $5.45 million mansion going into foreclosure a year ago and subsequently sold. The couple’s daughter was a student at Middlebury College, studying neuroscience and participating in the college choir. No issues had been reported at the house or in the entire neighborhood prior to the tragic incident.
In summary, autopsy results have confirmed the deaths of a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter found in their Massachusetts mansion as a murder-suicide, according to medical authorities. The incident remains under investigation by local and state authorities, with no prior reports of domestic issues at the residence.
