LONDON, UK – A 19-year-old man is being charged with the murder of Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, in Croydon. The victim was stabbed to death in what was described as a “premeditated group attack” by the court.
John Budal, of Melrose Avenue, Thornton Heath, is facing multiple charges in relation to the incident, including murder, linked robbery of a motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of cannabis. He appeared by video-link for a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey.
According to prosecutor Ben Holt, Mr. Budal took part in a “premeditated group attack” in Mayfield Crescent in Thornton Heath. The victim had walked towards the end of the Crescent where a white BMW was parked, and this is where the attackers approached and fatally stabbed him.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the heart, with additional injuries found on the victim’s back, arm, and wrist. A trial date has been set for 11 November, and Mr. Budal’s next appearance will be for a plea hearing on 20 March.
The accused faces serious charges and allegations related to a heinous crime. The court proceedings are ongoing, and the trial is scheduled for later this year.
