Wrong-way Missouri robbery suspect crashes into SUV, killing two on Interstate 435 in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – An armed robbery suspect in Missouri evading police by driving the wrong way on an interstate highway crashed into an SUV, resulting in the deaths of both drivers. The accident occurred on Tuesday just after 4 a.m. on Interstate 435 in Kansas City. The names of the deceased have not been made public.

The suspect was involved in armed robberies at three convenience stores between 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Police began pursuing the suspect’s vehicle soon after the third crime. Police spokesperson Alayna Gonzalez stated that the suspect’s Dodge Challenger was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the interstate during the chase. Ultimately, officers decided to halt the pursuit, but the Challenger collided head-on with a Chevrolet Equinox, resulting in the deaths of both drivers at the scene.
