Poisoned Lovers Linked to Seven Mysterious Deaths in Sri Lanka

Yakkala, Sri Lanka – Police in Sri Lanka discovered the bodies of a young man and a woman who had allegedly died by drinking poison. The two individuals were followers of a religious preacher and philosopher who had recently committed suicide in the Makumbura, Homagama area.

Authorities disclosed that seven deaths due to suicide had occurred under similar suspicious circumstances using the same type of poison within the last few days. The case has since been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The 34-year-old man’s body was found at a guest house in Maharagama, while the 21-year-old woman was recovered at her residence in Yakkala. Reports suggest that the two were lovers and had attended the funeral of the religious preacher before taking their own lives.

Investigations are ongoing to determine if the preacher’s sermons played a role in the chain of suicide incidents. Police are also looking into whether there are other individuals addicted to the preacher’s teachings who may be at risk.

The case has caught the attention of law enforcement, with multiple officers and inspectors leading the investigation. The tragic events have sparked concern and raised questions about the influence of religious leaders on susceptible followers.

In light of these developments, authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the ongoing investigation and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. As the investigation progresses, the police are working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind these heartbreaking incidents.
