Sentence: Sullivan County Man Gets 4 Years for Selling Lethal Fentanyl

BARRYVILLE, N.Y. – Ralph Mann, 37, a resident of Sullivan County, was sentenced to four years in prison followed by two years of post-release supervision in Orange County Court. The sentence comes after Mann pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance in connection with the death of a man in the city of Port Jervis.

The charges stem from the death of a man who was found deceased on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, with an autopsy revealing a fatal overdose of the narcotic fentanyl. Port Jervis Police discovered communications between the victim and Mann, where he agreed to sell the decedent the narcotics which ultimately caused his death, according to Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.

Mann admitted to police that he had sold the narcotics to the victim, and as a result, he pled guilty to the most serious charges supported under the law. Hoovler emphasized the commitment to holding drug dealers accountable for the death and destruction they cause, particularly in the face of the fentanyl crisis affecting communities.

The district attorney highlighted the inadequacies in New York State laws relative to the harm and death that drug traffickers cause when they sell lethal substances, underscoring the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors to address the crisis. This case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of illegal drug trade, and the commitment to pursuing justice for victims of overdose deaths.

In conclusion, Ralph Mann, a resident of Sullivan County, has been sentenced to four years in prison and two years of post-release supervision for his role in the criminal sale of a controlled substance resulting in a fatal overdose in the city of Port Jervis. The case underscores the ongoing efforts to address the fentanyl crisis and hold drug dealers accountable for the harm they cause to communities.
