Las Vegas Homeless Encampment Shooting: Two Arrested, Victims Named

LAS VEGAS, NV – Two individuals have been taken into custody for their involvement in a shooting at a Las Vegas homeless encampment that resulted in two fatalities and three injuries last December. The police department in Las Vegas announced the arrests on Friday, but did not provide a motive for the shooting.

Police identified the suspects as Cristobal Perez, 31, and Kylee Au Young, 21. Authorities stated that the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack following a dispute between Perez and a relative in the area. Perez faces two counts of open murder and three counts of attempted murder, while Au Young faces two counts of open murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information on the shooting to come forward. Online court records did not list attorneys for Perez or Au Young. The two suspects made their initial court appearances through video from the Clark County Detention Center.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not go into further details about the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. This incident took place at an intersection near the east Las Vegas neighborhood. The suspects are being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

The shooting victims have not been identified but based on the charges laid, it appears that Perez and Au Young were specifically targeting certain individuals. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but authorities are continuing their investigation. If you have any information, you’re encouraged to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
