Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Shocking Pre-Murder Revelation In New Docuseries

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Gypsy Rose Blanchard, recently released from prison, has shared shocking details about the abuse she endured at the hands of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in a new docuseries. Blanchard revealed that she once shot her mother at their home before the 2015 incident in which she conspired with her boyfriend to fatally stab her mother.

In interviews for the Lifetime docuseries “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” she detailed the years of abuse from her mother, who was believed to have suffered from factitious disorder imposed on another, also known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy. This rare mental condition led Dee Dee Blanchard to subject her daughter to unnecessary and painful medical procedures for nonexistent illnesses.

Blanchard explained that her mother became increasingly tyrannical as she sought independence, claiming that Dee Dee forced her to use a feeding tube, shave her head, and remain confined to a wheelchair under false pretenses. She even revealed that Dee Dee had bought a gun and chained her to the bed for two weeks after running away to be with a man she had met at a convention.

The harrowing account continues with Blanchard’s revelation that she once shot at her mother 10 times, only to realize that the gun was a BB gun and her mother’s wounds were superficial. This incident, along with Dee Dee’s subsequent lie about being shot by a robber, added to the trauma and manipulation Blanchard faced.

After the shooting, Blanchard expressed her relief at not having killed her mother but also her anger at the situation. Later, she met Nick Godejohn, whom she initially viewed as her “Prince Charming,” eventually leading to the deadly conspiracy to escape her mother’s manipulation.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and spent 10 years in prison before being released early last month. Her boyfriend, Godejohn, was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder. The docuseries sheds light on the complex story of abuse and manipulation that ultimately led to the tragic outcome.
