Thanksgiving Holiday Road Traffic Accidents Result in 21 Fatalities in Georgia, 4 Deaths in California, and 2 Injuries in Maryland

During the Thanksgiving holiday period, a series of tragic road traffic accidents occurred across the United States. In Georgia, there were a total of 21 fatalities, while California saw four deaths and nine injuries, and Maryland reported two injuries. These numbers may still increase as the holiday travel period, which began on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. ET, runs until Nov. 26 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

First responders in several states worked tirelessly to manage the aftermath of these multiple incidents. In Georgia, officials are investigating multiple accidents that resulted in at least 21 fatalities and several injuries. For instance, a crash in Thomasville led to the death of five individuals, with another fatality reported on Saturday. Additionally, single fatalities were reported in several other counties, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

In California, a rollover crash on Thanksgiving Day resulted in the deaths of four individuals on State Route 94 in South Park. Meanwhile, in Sacramento County, two children are in critical condition, and seven others sustained injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, according to Sacramento Metro Fire reports.

In Maryland, two individuals were hospitalized, and Thanksgiving travel faced disruption when four lanes were closed following a 10-car pileup on a highway on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier this month, AAA stated that approximately 55.4 million people were expected to embark on road trips over the Thanksgiving break. As a result, the numbers of road traffic accidents during this period may continue to rise. As the holiday travel period runs until Nov. 26 at 11:59 p.m. ET, the authorities are on high alert for further incidents and are urging travelers to remain cautious.
