Estranged Mother Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Her 4-Year-Old Son in North Goa: Motive Revealed

NORTH GOA, India – An educated mother and startup founder in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly murdering her four-year-old son in North Goa, in a shocking case that has stunned many. Suchana Seth, 39, was apprehended while attempting to flee in a taxi from a hotel in North Goa with her son’s body stuffed in a bag. Police suspect that an estranged relationship with her husband may have been a motive for the murder, as the woman wanted to keep the child away from her estranged husband. Seth checked out of her hotel on Monday, but housekeeping staff discovered bloodstains in the apartment, leading to the police being informed immediately.

After being alerted by Goa police, local authorities in Karnataka detained Suchana when she returned to her home state. She was held at the Aimangala police station in the Chitradurga district before being handed over to the Calangute police for transportation back to Goa on a transit remand.

Upon questioning, the woman claimed she left her son at a friend’s house in Fatorda and even provided details about the house, which turned out to be fake. Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of the child’s body in the taxi. Yet, police are still uncertain about the motive behind the mother’s actions. It has been reported that Seth and her husband had filed for divorce, and she was allegedly displeased with a court order allowing her estranged husband to meet their son every Sunday. This dissatisfaction may have driven her to carry out the heinous act.

Seth is the CEO of a Bengaluru-based AI startup called The Mindful AI Lab, where she has led the organization for over four years. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Physics, with extensive work experience in the field of artificial intelligence. While this case is a tragic and shocking incident, it is crucial to remember that it does not depict all mothers negatively. However, if found guilty, the accused must face the consequences without the leniency of gender bias or sympathy for a failed marital relationship.

The recovery of the child’s body, the latest developments in the case, and Suchana Seth’s personal and professional background provide a stark and troubling insight into this tragic incident. Such events are a poignant reminder of the complex and often tragic realities that underlie the facade of seemingly successful individuals.
