Teen Violence: Second Arrest Made in Attack of Arizona Boy

PHOENIX, Arizona – The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in the attack of a teenage boy in a desert near Queen Creek. 18-year-old Garrett Bagshaw was taken into custody on Friday in Mesa and booked into the Pinal County Jail in the afternoon. Sheriff Mark Lamb announced the arrest on social media, stating that his office is continuing to investigate the attack and working to identify additional suspects. The incident occurred on Nov. 18 around 10 p.m. near Wagon Wheel Road and Quail Trail, where the victim was beaten up by a group of individuals.

The group, which reportedly included Bagshaw and 20-year-old Jacob Pennington, punched and kicked the 17-year-old victim. Pennington was arrested earlier in the week for his involvement in the case. Sheriff Lamb had a stern message for the other suspects, advising them to turn themselves in as the authorities will find them. This arrest comes in the wake of other recent arrests related to teen violence in the East Valley, bringing increased attention to the issue in the area.

Surprisingly, no arrests have been made in the case of 16-year-old Preston Lord, who was attacked after a Halloween party in Queen Creek in October and later died. His tragic death has sparked greater interest in addressing teen violence in the East Valley. Reflecting this, Preston Lord’s stepmother made an emotional plea to police for justice at a Chandler City Council meeting. The authorities continue to work on identifying suspects and bringing them to justice.
