Fraudulent Drug Advertisements Misuse Identity of Former Environment Minister, Frimpong-Boateng, Prompts Official Warning

Accra, Ghana – Former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, is vehemently denying accusations of making predictions about the likelihood of numerous deaths from heart diseases. Recently, he expressed concern about individuals exploiting his identity for fraudulent activities, such as using his images and AI-generated voices to falsely promote counterfeit drugs and nutritional supplements.

In a formal disclaimer, Professor Frimpong-Boateng issued a stern warning to those involved in such deceptive activities, urging them to stop immediately. He also voiced his frustration with the slow progress of the police investigation into these fraudulent advertisements, despite filing complaints at the CID headquarters.

“I have not predicted nor granted any interview to any media outlet about the number of people dying from heart diseases in Ghana. I have also not given any media interviews regarding my unique treatment methods for chronic diseases. These stories are not only false but also criminal, with the sole intent to deceive the public and damage my reputation,” stated Professor Frimpong-Boateng.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of disregarding any advertisements featuring his image or name soliciting the purchase of drugs, urging the public to be cautious of such misleading promotions.

For several weeks, Professor Frimpong-Boateng has been dealing with various nefarious online activities misusing his name and pictures, including the dissemination of fake news stories claiming he had made dire predictions about heart disease-related deaths in Ghana and promoting fake drugs. He clarified that these claims are baseless and urged the public to be discerning when encountering such misinformation.

As the investigation into these fraudulent activities continues, Professor Frimpong-Boateng remains hopeful that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. He emphasizes the need for the public to remain vigilant and exercise skepticism when encountering any advertisements or news stories involving his persona in relation to the promotion of drugs or treatments.
