Teen Victim of Brutal Attack at Gilbert Restaurant Takes Brass Knuckles Ban Proposal to Arizona Capitol

GILBERT, Ariz. – In response to a violent incident at a local In-N-Out restaurant, a teenager is taking action by advocating for change within the community. Connor Jarnagan, who was attacked in December 2022, has been working to make sure his story leads to positive changes in his hometown.

Jarnagan recounted the moment when a group of about 10 to 12 kids demanded money from him and his friends at the restaurant. The situation quickly escalated, and Jarnagan was physically assaulted with brass knuckles, resulting in a significant injury that required medical attention.

Following the attack, Jarnagan and his mother have been working to seek justice and prevent similar incidents in the future. They have been in contact with state lawmakers, including Senator John Kavanagh, to propose legislation banning or restricting the use of brass knuckles in Arizona. Senator Kavanagh’s office confirmed that they are actively working on the language for a bill that will address this issue.

Additionally, community members have shown their support for Jarnagan’s efforts, with one individual creating a website where people can sign a petition in support of the proposed legislation. Jarnagan himself emphasized the importance of citizens reaching out to their legislators to express their support for the cause.

The local government also recently convened to discuss the issue of teen violence in the area, with Jarnagan’s story serving as a catalyst for these discussions. As Jarnagan continues his advocacy, he and his mother are committed to turning a negative experience into an opportunity for positive change within their community.
