Ukraine devastated as Russia launches 41 missiles, killing four and injuring more than 60

Kharkiv, Ukraine – In a devastating attack, at least four people were killed and more than 60 injured on Tuesday, January 23, after Russia launched 41 missiles at the north and east of Ukraine. In Kharkiv, Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed the fatalities and the staggering number of injuries from multiple missile strikes. The death toll was expected to rise as emergency workers continued to search for survivors in the rubble.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that at least 30 residential buildings were damaged in Kharkiv, with electricity and gas supplies cut off in several areas. The city quickly set up heating centers to assist those affected by the destruction caused by the missile strikes. The damage to an apartment building’s entrance was described as “complete destruction” by Terekhov, with images showing the collapsed facade posted by Syniehubov.

In the capital city of Kyiv, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko revealed that 20 people were injured, 13 of whom required hospitalization and some were in intensive care. Multiple areas of the city were hit by missiles on Tuesday morning, causing widespread damage and injuries. Additionally, one woman previously reported dead had been revived at a local hospital, according to Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military administration.

The administrations in Sumy and Dnipro oblasts also reported damage and injuries as a result of the missile strikes. Ukraine’s armed forces stated that Moscow had fired a combination of air defense missiles, ballistic missiles, guided cruise missiles, and anti-ship missiles from both aircraft and ground positions inside Russia. The armed forces reported that 21 missiles were intercepted by air defense systems, while others failed to reach their intended targets. This attack marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, posing a grave threat to the safety and security of the Ukrainian people.
