Delivery Driver Fatally Shot in Unincorporated King County, Family Mourns Loss

RENTON, Wash. – The search continues for the person responsible for the tragic shooting of a delivery driver in late January. Sergay Kubay, a 50-year-old father and husband, was fatally shot while making deliveries at Fairwood Pond Apartments. According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred after an altercation, and deputies believe the driver was targeted because of his profession.

Sergay leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife and two young children. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family during this difficult time. The unexpected loss has left them not only mourning but also grappling with the financial burden that comes with such a tragedy.

In the midst of their grief, Nikolay Kubay, Sergay’s brother, is calling for justice and urging the person responsible for the killing to be held accountable. He emphasizes the need for support for families affected by such losses, not just emotionally but also in terms of financial assistance.

The tragedy of Sergay Kubay’s death is not an isolated incident. This year, several delivery drivers and rideshare workers have been killed while on the job. State lawmakers are now looking into measures to provide better support for these workers and their families, including discussions about proposed bills to expand death benefits for rideshare drivers.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, the King County deputies have not released any information about the suspect. The Kubay family, however, remains focused on honoring Sergay’s memory and finding ways to support each other during this difficult time.
