Murder: Boyfriend Charged After Woman Dies in Hospital in Southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced on Friday that a woman has died and her 25-year-old boyfriend has been charged with murder. Officers responded to a call on Strider Drive in southeast Charlotte where they found 20-year-old Nataly Martinez unresponsive. She was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police later revealed that they had gone to apprehend the boyfriend, Freddy Renteria, in Mississippi, but he attempted to take his own life and was subsequently taken to a hospital. At the scene, officers suspected foul play and issued attempted murder warrants for Renteria.

Tragically, Martinez succumbed to her injuries on Friday, and Renteria’s charges were elevated to murder. The police have stated that there are no other suspects in the case, and the results of Martinez’s autopsy are pending.

The details of the case are still unfolding, and the authorities have not provided further information at this time. This developing story will be updated as more details emerge.
