Liverpool, England – A man in Liverpool, England, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stalking and assault causing grievous bodily harm to his former partner.
Alan Hall, 35, viciously attacked his ex-girlfriend after she ended their relationship, leaving her with a broken toe and several damaged bones in her feet. The victim met Hall on Facebook, and their relationship quickly turned violent, with Hall displaying aggressive and violent behavior on multiple occasions.
Despite the victim ending the relationship after just six weeks, Hall continued to pursue and harass her, showing up uninvited at her residence and damaging her property. This culminated in the brutal assault, where Hall repeatedly stamped on her feet, causing serious injuries.
The court heard that Hall had a history of violent behavior, with seven convictions for 11 offenses, several of which were related to violence against women and previous partners. Despite completing a program for building better relationships, he continued to pose a high risk of serious harm to others.
In his defense, Hall expressed remorse and acknowledged his issues with alcohol abuse and anger management. However, the judge noted that he had poor compliance with court orders and decided that immediate custody was the appropriate punishment for his actions.
In addition to the prison sentence, Hall was also issued a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim for seven years. The victim suffered significant physical and psychological harm, and the court’s decision aimed to provide her with the necessary protection.
