Volunteers Rally to Repair Iron River Homes After Tragic Explosion

IRON RIVER, Mich. – In the aftermath of a devastating house explosion that resulted in one fatality and extensive damage to neighboring homes, a dedicated team of volunteers has taken on the task of repairing and clearing debris in Iron River, Michigan. The explosion, which occurred on Feb. 10 at 820 Cayuga St., left several families displaced and in need of support.

Led by volunteer Joeseph Mowery, who made the journey from Florida to assist the community, the team has been working tirelessly to board up windows, clean up debris, and provide materials for repairs. Local businesses such as Crystal Lumber & Hardware and Window World from Wausau, Wisconsin, have generously donated materials to aid in the restoration efforts.

Mowery and his team have demonstrated unwavering compassion and commitment to helping those affected by the tragic event. Mowery shared that his decision to travel to Iron River was a last-minute one, prompted by a strong sense of calling to offer his assistance. He plans to install a memorial near the explosion site in honor of the homeowner who lost their life in the incident.

As the volunteers continue their efforts, Mowery aims to provide a sense of closure and remembrance for the community. Additionally, he plans to return to his home in Florida before March 1, leaving behind a legacy of support and kindness in the wake of a devastating event.
