Illegal: Fifth Suspect in Maryland Shooting That Took 2-Year-Old’s Life Arrested by ICE

Montgomery County, Maryland – A recent shooting incident in Maryland that tragically took the life of a 2-year-old child has raised concerns as the fifth suspect arrested for the crime has been revealed to be in the United States illegally, according to information from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The suspect, Nilson Granados-Trejo, who is 25 years old, has a history of detainments and had been ordered to be deported from Montgomery County in 2022. Despite this order, he was released on two separate occasions by county corrections officials, as reported by ICE.

Granados-Trejo faces charges of first and second-degree murder and is currently being held in the Department of Corrections without bond. The shooting took place on February 8 in Langley Park, where witnesses described a violent confrontation between two groups, leading to the tragic death of 2-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres and injuries to his mother.

Following the incident, several other individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting, including a 15-year-old from Takoma Park, a 16-year-old from Hyattsville, 33-year-old Israel Fuentes Jr. of Lewisdale, and 28-year-old Johnny Turcios. The two teenagers are being charged as adults, while Fuentes and Turcios have been denied bond.
