Families were forced to evacuate their homes, leaving behind cherished belongings in the aftermath of the tragic incident that occurred on Saturday. The explosion resulted in the loss of 50-year-old Craig Zinsser Beauvait, who was found deceased at the scene. Investigators revealed evidence of tampering with the natural gas system within the household, shedding light on the potential cause of the explosion.
Reports from one of Beauvait’s neighbors indicated that moments before the explosion, Beauvait was seen holding a lighter, hinting at a possible trigger for the catastrophic event. Neighbor Nell Bohnart recalled smelling gas emanating from the residence, prompting concern and action from her and her son. Bohnart’s son acted swiftly, alerting as many neighbors as possible about the impending danger. The blast caused extensive damage to multiple homes and businesses in the vicinity, including Bohnart’s own residence.
Heartbroken by the destruction, Neil Bohnart described the harrowing experience, stating, “It went kaboom. Well, you know what? What can you know, what can I say? I’m heartbroken, but I’m glad we’re alive.” Another neighbor recounted the terrifying ordeal of being trapped inside their collapsing home with their family, emphasizing the heroism displayed by their young son in shielding his sister from harm.
