Investigation Underway into Hudson Auto Repair Shop Explosion: One Injured and Hospitalized

HUDSON, Mass. – Authorities are currently investigating the cause of an explosion that occurred at an auto repair shop in Hudson, Massachusetts, resulting in one person being injured and taken to the hospital. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. on Monday at a local auto body shop on Forest Avenue. Firefighters are continuing their efforts to determine what triggered the explosion and subsequent fire. Eversource crews, upon arrival at the scene, confirmed that there was no gas leak present.

According to investigators, a worker was inside the auto body shop at the time of the explosion. Hudson Fire Chief Jamie Desautels reported, “First responders discovered fire and smoke emanating from the building. Crews acted swiftly to extinguish the fire and later discovered an injured individual who was then transported to UMass Medical Center.” Video footage captured by Sky 5 showed a large garage door in one of the bays that appeared to have been blown out.

The injured person is currently receiving medical treatment at UMass Medical Center, although the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed at this time. The auto repair shop sustained significant damage as a result of the explosion, with the structural integrity of the building being compromised.
