Assault: 18-Year-Old Arrested in Violent Attack on Security Guard in Orange County

YORBA LINDA, CALIFORNIA — An 18-year-old high school student has been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a violent assault on a security guard in an upscale community in Orange County. Aidan Grogan was arrested at Yorba Linda High School on Thursday, according to officials from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident took place at East Lake Village in Yorba Linda around 9 p.m. on March 3, as reported in a private social media group. Security footage captured the attack on the security guard, who had confronted the suspects for fishing after hours. The severity of the assault, which included rendering the security guard unconscious, raised concerns about the possible training of at least one of the perpetrators.

The attackers, described as males aged 16-17, with one having shaggy blonde hair and another filming the incident on a cellphone, are currently under investigation. Residents of the community expressed displeasure over management’s lack of communication regarding the alleged assault, prompting questions about safety and security measures in the area.

Despite limited details provided by the community’s general manager, authorities from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department acknowledged the ongoing investigation into the reported assault. The incident was officially reported on March 6, two days after it occurred. It remains unclear if there will be further arrests related to the case besides the 18-year-old suspect currently facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
