Miami, Florida – Two former student-athletes from New England College tragically lost their lives in a double murder-suicide in Miami over the weekend. Meghan Moore, 25, and Sidney Capolino, 23, who both graduated from the college in recent years, were living together in Miami at the time of the incident.
The authorities have reported that Moore’s boyfriend, Luis Napoles, 40, shot both women before taking his own life. Moore and Capolino were known for their involvement in the school’s women’s hockey team, according to a college spokesperson.
President Dr. Wayne Lesperance expressed deep sadness over the loss of Moore and Capolino, stating that they were well-known members of the college community. Counseling services will be provided to students in need at the Wellness Center on campus.
The tragic event unfolded when Miami-Dade police responded to reports of gunshots at the Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments. Upon arrival, they discovered Moore outside the apartment with a gunshot wound. Inside the residence, they found the lifeless bodies of Capolino and Napoles.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Napoles shot Moore outside the apartment before proceeding inside to attack Capolino before taking his own life. The details surrounding Napoles’ suicide have not been disclosed.
