Boynton Beach Man Convicted of Second-Degree Murder in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend

West Palm Beach, Florida – Shevon Green, a Broward County resident, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Akilah Hill, who was shot and killed in Boynton Beach in November 2020. The jury unanimously convicted Green on March 21, and he is awaiting sentencing, scheduled for June 3.
Authorities discovered Green in a Baltimore suburb, where he had fled to after the fatal shooting. The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended him at a residence in Parkville, two days after the incident took place.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred following an argument between Green and Hill at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub, leading to the tragic events at a home in Boynton Beach on the morning of November 22, 2020.
Witnesses reported hearing screams the next morning, with one individual finding Green standing over Hill’s bed. The witness later realized that Hill had been shot and succumbed to her injuries at Delray Medical Center.
During the trial, defense attorney Eric Clayman attempted to exclude certain testimonies regarding statements made by Hill before the shooting. However, Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gillen permitted some witness statements regarding Hill’s words in the hours leading up to the incident.
Despite the defense’s efforts, the judge also dismissed motions for a judgment of acquittal following the state’s case presentation, solidifying Green’s conviction on second-degree murder charges.
As the case progresses towards sentencing, family, friends, and the community await the final legal outcome in the tragic loss of Akilah Hill, emphasizing the importance of justice and closure in such heartbreaking circumstances.
