Capital Murder Charges Filed in Connection to Death of 14-Year-Old Girl in Mobile

Mobile, Alabama – Three individuals have been indicted on capital murder charges related to the tragic death of a 14-year-old girl in Mobile, according to officials from the Mobile District Attorney’s Office.

In 2022, Ciara Jackson, just 14 years old, was fatally shot while sitting in a car with her friends on Michael Donald Avenue in Mobile. The assailants reportedly opened fire on the car, leading to Ciara’s untimely death.

Ciara’s grandmother, Freida Jackson, expressed her anguish over the senseless act of violence that claimed her granddaughter’s life. She emphasized that the perpetrators had no right to take the life of a young girl, condemning the prevalence of gun violence in the community.

After nearly two years of grieving Ciara’s passing, Jackson received a call from the Mobile District Attorney’s Office, informing her that the three individuals connected to her granddaughter’s murder had been indicted on capital murder charges. While the news brought a sense of closure, Jackson described it as bittersweet, acknowledging that no amount of legal action could bring back the life they took.

Among those arrested were Lamonyae Forrest, Archie Petite, and a juvenile whose identity remains protected due to their age. The community was shaken by the heinous crime, prompting advocates like Jackson to call for greater awareness of the consequences of gun violence among teenagers.

Despite the pain and loss, Jackson remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice for Ciara, launching an initiative called Ciara’s Cause to raise awareness and advocate against gun violence in schools and the community. Through her efforts, she aims to ensure that Ciara’s memory lives on and to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.

As the legal process unfolds, Jackson is determined to keep fighting for justice, emphasizing the enduring impact of gun violence on families and communities. By sharing Ciara’s story and advocating for change, she hopes to create a lasting legacy in her granddaughter’s honor.
