Driver Charged After Fatal Shooting of NYPD Officer During Traffic Stop

Brooklyn, New York – A career criminal known as “Killa” has been charged after a tragic incident where NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop. The suspect, Lindy Jones, 41, was found in possession of a second gun in the car and now faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon and defacing a weapon.

The incident unfolded when NYPD officers, including Officer Diller, conducted a traffic stop on a double-parked Kia Soul outside a T-Mobile store in Flatbush. As the officers approached the vehicle, the passenger, 34-year-old Guy Rivera, reportedly refused to comply with their orders and allegedly shot Officer Diller in the stomach before being injured himself in a subsequent exchange of gunfire.

Prior to Jones being charged, authorities discovered a 9-millimeter firearm in the glove compartment of the vehicle, sparking an investigation to determine the ownership of the weapon. Rivera, who remains hospitalized as he recovers from his injuries, has not yet been charged in connection with the incident.

Officer Diller, a dedicated husband and father to a one-year-old son, was a member of the NYPD “quality of life” unit conducting the traffic stop. The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community and raised questions about the dangers that law enforcement officers face in the line of duty.

The NYPD is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, working to piece together the events that led to the untimely death of Officer Diller. As the community mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant, the department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
