LRT Assault Suspects: Help Identify Attackers in Edmonton Police Investigation

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – In the early morning of Saturday, February 24, 2024, a 64-year-old man was brutally attacked and robbed at the Churchill LRT platform. The victim was waiting for a train when he was confronted by a male suspect, leading to a violent assault that left him with serious injuries. Five other suspects reportedly joined in the attack before fleeing the scene. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital by EMS for treatment.

Authorities are actively seeking assistance from the public to identify three suspects involved in the attack. Descriptions of the suspects, including their attire and physical characteristics, have been released to aid in their apprehension. The Edmonton Police Service is urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring these individuals to justice.

One suspect, Markus Lee Gladue, 21, has been identified thanks to tips from the public and a previous news release. However, Gladue remains at large, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for charges including aggravated assault and robbery. Law enforcement is working diligently to locate and apprehend Gladue as part of the ongoing investigation.

In addition to Gladue, two other suspects have been charged in relation to the incident. Brady Rodney Desroches-Smith, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault and robbery. Notably, Desroches-Smith was also wanted for first-degree murder by the Grande Prairie RCMP at the time of his arrest. Travis Damian Houle, 35, has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and failure to comply with a probation order.

The Edmonton Police Service is committed to holding those responsible for the heinous attack fully accountable, and is continuing to seek information from the community to further their investigation.
