Assaulted Senior at Edmonton LRT Station: Two Arrests Made, Three Suspects Still at Large

Edmonton, Alberta – Two arrests have been made in connection with the brutal attack on a senior at a downtown Edmonton LRT station. A warrant has been issued for another suspect, while three additional suspects remain unidentified.

The assault took place at the ground level Churchill platform of the Valley Line LRT on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at around 5:30 a.m. According to the Edmonton Police Service, a 64-year-old man was waiting for a train when he was confronted by a male suspect. The altercation escalated, leading to the suspect violently assaulting the senior and robbing him, along with five other assailants who joined in the attack before fleeing the scene.

Three suspects have been identified and charged, while three others are still at large. Descriptions and images of the suspects have been released by the police in hopes of public assistance in their capture.

One suspect is described as a man with a black hat and medium build, seen in a white puffy jacket with a maroon/purple scarf, black pants, white running shoes without laces, and a black backpack. Another suspect, appearing on a bicycle, is described as a 30- to 40-year-old man with dyed hair and wearing a black face mask and hat with a cannabis leaf, among other distinctive clothing items.

The police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward. Warrants have been issued for Markus Lee Gladue, 21, who is wanted for aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, and robbery. Two other suspects, Brady Rodney Desroches-Smith, 28, and Travis Damian Houle, 35, have already been arrested and are facing charges related to the assault.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing, with authorities determined to bring all involved parties to justice for the violent incident that left the senior victimized.
