Hockinson Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband’s Accomplice: Disturbing Murder-for-Hire Plot Uncovered

Portland, Oregon – James Rummell, who allegedly orchestrated the murder of his wife with the help of a friend, now faces first-degree accomplice to murder charges as confirmed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. In addition to the murder charges, Rummell is also being charged with first-degree accomplice to burglary.

Initially taken into custody for making false statements, authorities soon considered Rummell a murder suspect in the death of his wife, Lindy Rummell, who was found shot to death in their Hockinson home on March 23. Upon returning home that evening, Rummell and two friends reported discovering Lindy dead and their truck stolen.

A tip received led to the arrest of Darrell Riley, 55, in Eugene on suspicion of first-degree murder. Authorities believe that Rummell may have hired Riley to stage a burglary and carry out the murder of his wife.

Sgt. Chris Skidmore of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office stated, “There was some evidence from the person that provided the tip that there may be a link that he may have potentially on a murder-for-hire contract in order to do this. Detectives are still working through that whole piece of it.”

The investigation into the tragic death of Lindy Rummell continues as authorities piece together the events leading up to and following the murder. The case underscores the complexities of relationships and the lengths to which some may go to harm others.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they work diligently to ensure justice is served for Lindy Rummell.
