Teenager Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death of 14-Year-Old Rankin County Student

Jackson, Miss. – A third teenager has been apprehended in connection with the tragic shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old student in Rankin County.

Siyaski Crawford, 15, has recently been identified as a suspect in the case and has been set a bond of $1.5 million. Additionally, another suspect, 16-year-old Maxle Mooneyham, faced the court on Thursday and was also given a $1.5 million bond. Meanwhile, 17-year-old John Foote, who has been charged with murder in connection to the incident, has been denied bond. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade has mentioned the possibility of a fourth arrest in relation to the case.

Following the distressing discovery of 14-year-old Cameron Horne-Crook’s lifeless body at a residence on Ridgecrest Drive on Monday evening, his mother, Violet Horne, believes that her son was lured to the location by Mooneyham, with whom Cameron had previously attended an alternative school. Expressing anguish and confusion over her son’s untimely death, Horne remains uncertain about the motive behind the tragic incident.

During a court session, an investigator revealed that the young victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Mooneyham stands accused of abandoning the body on the street before returning to Rankin County to allegedly tamper with evidence related to the case. Authorities have hinted at the possibility of elevating Mooneyham’s charges to capital murder.

Northwest Rankin Middle School, where Cameron Horne-Crook was a student, extended its condolences to his family and friends following the devastating loss. The Rankin County School District has ensured the availability of counselors to provide support to grieving students and staff members during this challenging period.
