Murder Charges Filed Against Harris County Son in Mother’s Death in North Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities have arrested a man and charged him with the murder of his mother in north Harris County. Following a second alarm at the same location an hour later, a deputy returned to find the garage door open. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered the woman deceased inside the house with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as Anna Iris Melendez, 52, and her son, Christopher Melendez, 27, was apprehended early Sunday after evading HPD officers in a traffic-related incident.

Christopher Melendez has since been charged with murder and has been incarcerated in the Harris County Jail. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
