Arrest Made in Connection to Violent Crimes on Sept. 17: Andrew Valadez Charged with Shooting and Robbery

San Antonio, Texas – A man was apprehended by the authorities in connection to a shooting and armed robbery that occurred on September 17th of last year. Andrew Valadez, 27, was taken into custody by the San Antonio Police for allegedly engaging in two violent crimes on the same day.

Valadez was accused of shooting and pistol-whipping a man during the early morning hours of September 17, 2023. Police responded to reports of a shooting at the 100 block of Henry St. around 4:30 a.m., where they discovered Valadez and a 47-year-old man engaged in a physical altercation that escalated to violence.

Witnesses intervened and managed to separate Valadez from the victim, but Valadez proceeded to shoot a 35-year-old man in the chest before assaulting him with the handgun. The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while Valadez fled the scene.

In addition to the shooting incident, Valadez was also implicated in an armed robbery that took place on the same day. Authorities stated that Valadez, along with an unidentified accomplice, chased and pistol-whipped a 44-year-old victim in a parking lot before demanding his belongings.

Valadez, who had a prior conviction for Family Assault, had been released from prison just seven months before the violent acts occurred on September 17. Video surveillance helped investigators identify Valadez as a suspect in both the shooting and the armed robbery.

The 35-year-old shooting victim’s current condition remains unknown, while Valadez awaits further legal proceedings related to the charges brought against him for the two separate incidents. The swift actions of law enforcement officers and bystanders played a crucial role in apprehending the suspect and providing aid to the victims in the wake of the violent attacks.
