Pit Bull Attack Leads to Criminal Charges in Utah Woman’s Death

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A tragic incident unfolded as a man in Taylorsville is now facing criminal charges in connection with his mother’s death following a vicious attack by his pet pit bulls. The man, identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Miller, has been charged with seven counts of attack by an animal after his mother, 63-year-old Sandra Miller, succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack by the dogs.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on October 31, 2023, when officers from the Taylorsville Police Department responded to a report of an animal attack at a residence near 2900 West and 4800 South in Taylorsville. Upon arrival, officers found Sandra Miller with extensive injuries to her face, hands, and leg, which was later amputated due to the severity of the injuries.

The responding officer had to use pepper spray to subdue the dogs, which were in a frenzied state with blood around their mouths. Despite efforts to contain the dogs, they remained aggressive, requiring intervention from multiple officers and animal control to ensure the safety of the victim and the public.

Following the attack, Sandra Miller was transported to the hospital in critical condition and tragically succumbed to her injuries. The dogs involved in the attack were euthanized due to the violent nature of the incident, and the remaining six puppies were taken into custody by Animal Control.

Jeremy Miller now faces criminal charges for the attack by his dogs, highlighting the tragic consequences of irresponsible pet ownership and the importance of ensuring the safety of both animals and the public.
