Manchester, United Kingdom – A family in Bury, following a massive explosion on Nelson Street that caused significant damage to neighboring homes, has reported experiencing mold issues in their residence as a result of the blast.
The explosion in February left one woman severely injured and resulted in the demolition of three homes in the area. Since then, Walayat Shah, a resident several doors down from the blast site, found mold and damp problems in his home upon returning from an evacuation period.
Shah has raised concerns about potential structural damage to his property as a result of the explosion, fearing for his family’s health due to the current living conditions. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Greater Manchester Police, although no details on the findings have been released thus far.
Following the blast, Shah and his family were forced to evacuate their home for weeks, seeking refuge with a neighbor. This upheaval coincided with his children’s upcoming GCSE exams, leading to heightened stress and difficulties for the family.
Upon their return, the family discovered water seepage and mold infestation in multiple rooms of their residence. Shah’s wife, Shazia Khalil, expressed concerns about their son’s asthma exacerbating due to the mold, emphasizing the need for immediate action to address the issue.
Shah’s insurance provider, Aviva, has dispatched a representative to investigate the mold and damp problems in their home. A spokesperson for Aviva reassured that they are exploring all possible solutions to assist Shah and his family during this challenging time.
