Violent Minnesota Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Casino Attack

Minneapolis, Minnesota – A Minnesota man has been sentenced to federal prison for a violent assault that took place at one of the state’s casinos, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Minnesota on Tuesday. The incident, which occurred last Spring, involved 55-year-old Shawn Rene Lussier from Red Lake.

Court documents revealed that Lussier repeatedly punched and kicked a victim in a hotel room, causing a one-inch laceration to the victim’s scalp that required stitches, a bloody lip, and various body bruises. The attack, which occurred on April 9, 2023, left blood stains and resulted in $450 worth of damages to the hotel room at Seven Clans Casino on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

Aside from this particular assault, Lussier has a history of multiple prior convictions for Criminal Domestic Violence involving different victims between May 2017 and December 2021. Due to being convicted of Domestic Assault by a Habitual Offender, Lussier was sentenced to three years and 10 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
