Assaulting Roofer from Horsham Jailed After Violent Attack on Woman in her 40s

Horsham, England – A roofer from Horsham has been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for a violent assault on a woman in her 40s. The attack, described as distressing and prolonged, took place over the course of a night as the victim was repeatedly assaulted and left drifting in and out of consciousness.

The incident occurred on the night of August 15th and the morning of August 16th when Sam Everitt, 34, assaulted the woman while they were traveling from Croydon to Horsham. The victim sustained significant injuries that required hospital treatment as a result of the assault.

Everitt, who had no fixed address, was identified as a suspect and was actively sought for arrest. After weeks of tracking, he was located and taken into custody on October 18th. The charges against him included Section 20 grievous bodily harm, to which he pleaded guilty before Chichester Crown Court. In addition to his prison sentence, Everitt was also given a five-year restraining order against the victim and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

Detective Constable Dan Griffiths expressed the severity of the attack, stating that the victim suffered serious injuries as a result of Everitt’s actions. Griffiths highlighted the collaborative effort that led to Everitt’s swift apprehension and subsequent charges within a short period of time. He emphasized the importance of bringing offenders to justice and ensuring the protection of victims.
