Holyoke, Massachusetts – A tragic incident unfolded in Holyoke on Sunday morning when a woman succumbed to apparent stab wounds, as reported by the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office. The victim’s identity remains undisclosed, but authorities have arrested 52-year-old Jason Chapdelaine of Springfield on a murder charge, according to James Leydon, spokesperson for the district attorney.
Law enforcement officials were alerted to the scene in the 200 block of South Water Street around 1:30 a.m. following a 911 call reporting suspicious activity, Leydon revealed. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman with stab wounds and Chapdelaine in a critical condition due to self-inflicted injuries.
Despite efforts to save both individuals, the woman tragically passed away from her injuries. Chapdelaine was subsequently taken into custody and now faces charges of murder. He is scheduled to appear in Holyoke District Court on Tuesday for further legal proceedings.
