Mass Shooting Outside New Orleans Nightclub Leaves One Dead and 11 Injured

New Orleans, Louisiana – A mass shooting outside a popular nightclub in New Orleans left one woman dead and 11 people injured late on Sunday night. The incident took place just before midnight on the 800 block of South Peters Street, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The police are currently investigating the shooting and have not yet identified the shooter or shooters involved. The motive behind the shooting is also unknown at this time. This marks the fourth mass shooting in New Orleans so far this year, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city.

Witnesses reported hearing a series of gunshots followed by chaos outside the nightclub, with people running out and seeking shelter. The owner of the nightclub, Republic NOLA, stated that the shooting occurred outside the venue and confirmed that all staff members were safe.

Responding officers found one woman fatally shot on the sidewalk, while several others sustained injuries from the incident. Some of the victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment, while others were driven by civilians. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death for the woman who was killed.

Local officials, including Governor Jeff Landry and U.S. Rep. Troy Carter, have expressed outrage and called for stricter gun control measures and violence reduction programs in response to the shooting. Louisiana has seen a total of eight mass shootings this year, with half of them occurring in New Orleans.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact homicide detective Donald Willyard or call Crimestoppers to help with the ongoing investigation.
