Hit-and-Run Suspect Charged with Murder After Fatal Bicycle Accident in Louisville

Louisville, Kentucky – A man faces charges of murder after a tragic incident where a woman on a bicycle was fatally struck in the Standiford neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Louisville Metro Police responded to reports of a pedestrian hit at the intersection of Preston Hwy and Durrett Lane around 12:40 a.m. Spokesperson Aaron Ellis confirmed that the victim, identified as 39-year-old Jennifer Lynn Davis by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, was found dead at the scene.

According to witness statements, the woman was traveling northbound on Preston Highway when she was struck by a black pickup truck also heading north. The driver, identified as Juan Fernando Munzo Alcala, allegedly continued driving without stopping after the collision. A man contacted MetroSafe shortly after, admitting to being involved in a crash on Preston Highway earlier that night.

Law enforcement officers located Munzo Alcala at the 3300 block of Preston Hwy and subsequently arrested him. He is facing charges of murder, wanton endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence. The suspect is being held on a $75,000 bond and is set to be arraigned on Wednesday.
