Ammonia Blast at Bang Lamung Ice Factory Injures 128: Emergency Response Underway

Chon Buri, Thailand – A massive explosion at an ice factory in Bang Lamung district left 128 people injured, with a cloud of ammonia gas spreading over a kilometer into the air. Ammonia, commonly used as a refrigerant, is a highly irritating gas that caused eye and nose irritation among those affected by the blast. Witnesses reported hearing a deafening explosion in the middle of the night, followed by thick smoke billowing from the factory.

In response to the incident, officials quickly mobilized disaster prevention teams to evacuate employees and residents in Nong Prue subdistrict to safety. The victims of the explosion experienced symptoms such as eye and nose irritation, with some individuals even losing consciousness. By around 4 am, the situation was successfully brought under control, with a total of 128 injuries documented. District chief Weekit Manarojkit announced that district administration staff would conduct patrols in the area to provide assistance to the surrounding communities.

Adding to the complexity of the situation is the immediate need for medical attention and support for those affected. As the community grapples with the aftermath of this devastating incident, authorities are tasked with ensuring that such accidents are prevented in the future.
