Assault: Tyler Greening Pleads Guilty in Brutal School Attack, Sentencing Hearing Set for August

St. John’s, Newfoundland – A teenager, Tyler Greening, has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for his involvement in a vicious attack on a student at Prince of Wales Collegiate in St. John’s last year. The incident left the victim severely injured after being assaulted with weapons by a group of students.

Greening, 18, did not appear in court, but his lawyer entered the guilty plea on his behalf. He is set to attend a sentencing hearing on August 29 after undergoing a pre-sentencing report. Four other individuals, who are minors and cannot be named, also pleaded guilty to the assault. Two of them received 18 months in juvenile detention, while the other two received the maximum sentence of 24 months for a charge less than murder for minors.

A publication ban restricts the details of the case from being reported until after Greening’s sentencing. The court has yet to reveal the specific events that occurred during the attack on the high school student.

The assault, which took place at the entrance of the school in March of the previous year, resulted in serious injuries for the victim. The guilty pleas from Greening and the other individuals involved signify a step towards justice for the victim and accountability for the perpetrators.

As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains vigilant in supporting the victim and addressing the issue of violence in schools. The outcome of the sentencing hearing in August will shed light on the consequences faced by those responsible for the violent attack.
