Development: Fourth Suspect Arrested in Bre’Asia Powell Murder Case

Atlanta, Georgia – A significant development has emerged in the case of Bre’Asia Powell, a 16-year-old girl who was fatally shot almost a year ago during an unauthorized graduation party for students from Mays High School. The mother of the teenager, Necole Williams, shares that there has been progress in the investigation, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Bre’Asia Powell, a talented student involved in several activities at Mays High School, including dance, cheerleading, basketball, and volleyball, tragically lost her life in May of last year. Williams expresses the ongoing struggle of coping with the loss of her daughter, finding encouragement in recent updates from the DA’s office.

Reflecting on the pain of her daughter’s senseless death, Williams describes the challenges of every day without her. Despite the difficulties, Williams is heartened by the news of the police actively working on the case, following new leads.

As the one-year anniversary of Bre’Asia’s passing approaches, Williams plans a justice march in her honor. Scheduled for May 28 along Benjamin E. Mays Drive, the march seeks to honor the memory of the young girl whose promising future was abruptly cut short.

In a recent development, a fourth suspect named Jakell Mumford has been arrested and charged in connection with the case. Mumford faces charges related to gang activity and has allegedly confessed to sending threatening messages to a witness of Bre’Asia Powell’s murder through social media.

With the investigation ongoing and justice sought for Bre’Asia’s tragic death, Williams emphasizes the importance of accountability, warning those responsible for the shooting that there will be consequences for their actions.

While more information is being sought about Mumford’s involvement in the case, the Atlanta Police continue to work diligently to bring closure to the case and seek justice for the young victim.
