RICHFIELD, Minn. – A residential house in Richfield was completely destroyed following a fire and suspected explosion on Monday morning. One individual sustained injuries in the incident.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted about a potential explosion and fire at a residence near Oliver Avenue South and West 64th Street, which is located across the street from a Richfield fire station. Richfield Fire Chief Mike Dobesh mentioned that deputies on the scene heard cries for help, leading them to rescue the individual trapped inside the house. The injured person was taken to the hospital and was expected to be discharged later in the day.
Authorities reported that there was visible evidence of an explosion, along with an active fire in the basement of the house. The impact of the explosion resulted in damaged windows and walls on the north side of the structure.
